To create a PDF, you may follow Medibel's instructions at www.medibelplus.be or comply with the following rules to avoid mistakes.

Creating HD PDF documents from current layout programs is a trusted and simple task, however a few rules need to be followed:

  • The PDF file should always be centered (i.e. with the same margin all around).
  • The layout size must be equal to the finished size.
  • Make sure the file size extends beyond the final document size (provide for a 5 mm full-bleed).
  • Follow the pages' actual order and title (no pre-assembly).
  • For pamphlets with pages of different sizes, plan your layout in full format (1 face-up + 1 face-down) and indicate the fold marks outside the document.
  • In all cases, make sure the fonts have been properly included in the PDF creation process.

Name your PDF documents in a simple manner and check the documents in Acrobat before sending them to us. If you find it difficult to create PDF documents, you may send us your layout documents along with all document imports and all fonts pertaining to the document and the imports.

In all cases, if your file contains a cutting die, the PDF document must contain the outline in overprint (note: the document must be formatted to its final size, the shape 100%, positioned in X and Y, at 0 mm if it is a full size shape).

For photos, a minimum resolution of 300 dpi is required. If your images contain text (i.e. packaging images) minimum 600 dpi. Scanned outlines at 1200 dpi. All images must be CMJK with no JPEG compression and no ICC profile.

For folders and cutting dies, an Illustrator file at 100% must be provided, which includes the clearly differentiated cuts, folds and dashed fonts.
